In this scenario, the customer has 100TB of used capacity on an on-premises AFF volume, and 80% of the data is cold and tiered to Amazon S3 usingBlueXP tiering. After tiering, 80TB of cold data is tiered to Amazon S3, leaving 20TB of hot data on the AFF system. WhenBlueXP backup and recoveryperforms the first full backup, it backs up all the data (100TB). Since the backup is a full copy and independent of the tiering process, the total ingress traffic into AWS is80TB (tiered data) + 100TB (full backup), resulting in180TBof total ingress.

When deployingNetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAPfor an Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) workload that involveslarge sequential I/O, the sizing characteristic to consider isMBps(megabytes per second). Large sequential I/O workloads, such as video streaming or backup operations, typically rely on high throughput rather than random IOPS.

Capacity (B)andIOPS (C)are important for other workload types, whileCPU (D)is less relevant for storage throughput requirements in this context.

The customer is using 30TB of capacity in NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP but only 10TB of this capacity is actively in use. The most cost-efficient solution in this case is toimplement data tiering and optimization. Data tiering moves inactive or cold data to lower-cost storage (such as object storage in Azure), while keeping frequently accessed data on higher-performance storage. This strategy allows the customer to reduce costs by only paying for premium storage for the data that is actively in use, while moving less frequently accessed data to a cheaper storage tier.

Storing all data in the premium storage tier (A)would increase costs rather than reduce them.BlueXP backup and recovery (B)is for data protection, not cost optimization.Deploying an additional single-node Cloud Volumes ONTAP instance (D)would increase storage costs rather than optimize them.

To enhance the performance when tiering data fromNetApp ONTAP clustersto the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, the following best practices should be considered:

Establish a VNet service endpoint to Azure storage (A): This ensures secure and optimized access to Azure Blob storage directly from the ONTAP cluster, minimizing latency.

Create an Azure ExpressRoute connection (B): ExpressRoute provides a dedicated, high-performance connection between the on-premises ONTAP clusters and Azure Blob storage, reducing latency and increasing throughput.

Whilechoosing the IPspace (C)is important for network configuration, it doesn’t directly enhance performance for cloud-tiering.An HTTPS connection over port 443 (D)is for secure data transfer but isn’t specifically performance-enhancing.

In NetApp BlueXP, theAccount Administratorhas the authority to customize alerts and notification settings. The Account Administrator role is responsible for managing the overall configuration of the BlueXP environment, including setting up and modifying alerts to monitor system health and performance, ensuring that the appropriate notifications are sent when issues arise.

Other roles likeTenant Administrator (A),Connector Administrator (B), andWorkspace Administrator (D)have more limited scopes of control, and they are not responsible for managing global alert and notification settings.

The appropriate NetApp feature to use in this scenario is aCloud Storage Pool. A Cloud Storage Pool in NetApp StorageGRID allows the administrator to tier data to public clouds like Amazon S3 Glacier Deep Archive. This feature lets the administrator keep local replicated copies for performance, geo-dispersederasure-coded copies for durability, and tier cold or backup data to Glacier for long-term retention and cost savings.

FabricPool (B)andFlash Pool (C)are not relevant to S3 data tiering and bucket replication in StorageGRID.Dynamic Disk Pool (D)is more applicable to disk management in traditional storage arrays, not for managing S3 bucket replicas across different storage locations.

For a company looking to create a flexible, cloud-based solution that consolidates data and shares files globally while caching a subset in distributed locations, the following two components are required:

Flash Cache intelligent caching (B)is more relevant for on-premises storage performance rather than cloud-based solutions, andBlueXP copy and sync (C)is used for data migration or synchronization, but does not provide global file sharing or edge caching capabilities.

The issue where the Linux client shows that the NFS volume is full, despite the AWS dashboard showing available capacity in the Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP file system, suggests that the allocated volume size within ONTAP is smaller than the total capacity available. To resolve this, the customer shouldenable volume autosizing. Autosizing allows the volume to automatically increase in size as needed, preventing issues where the volume becomes full while the underlying file system still has available storage.

Increasing the capacity of the file system (B)is not necessary since the file system already has free space.Deleting snapshots (C)can free up some space, but autosizing is a more efficient solution.Tiering cold data (D)addresses long-term storage management but won’t resolve the immediate issue of the volume being full.

NetApp StorageGRID provides high availability (HA) by leveraging several key technologies, and one of the primary benefits in an HA environment is the use ofvirtual IP addresses (VIPs). In a high-availability configuration, StorageGRID uses VIPs to ensure continuous access to the service, even if one of the StorageGRID nodes becomes unavailable.

By using VIPs, StorageGRID ensures that requests to the system can be dynamically rerouted to an available node, providing seamless failover and reducing downtime in the case of node failures. This ensures that clients continue to connect without disruptions, contributing to the overall resilience and availability of the environment.

While options like zero data loss (B) are important, they are not guaranteed in every failover scenario without a well-designed backup or data replication system. Focusing on data retrieval speed (C) or single-instance redundancy (D) doesn't directly pertain to how NetApp StorageGRID handles high availability.

For a company migrating a VMware environment to Azure usingAzure VMware Solution (AVS), and where the workload requires more storage than compute,Azure NetApp Filesis the most suitable datastore storage solution. Azure NetApp Files offers high performance, scalability, and is fully integrated with Azure, making it ideal for large-scale workloads that require extensive storage capacity but less compute.

Azure Files (B)is generally not sufficient for high-performance VMware workloads, andAmazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP (C)is an AWS-based solution, not an Azure-compatible service.Cloud Volumes ONTAP (D)in Azure can be used for certain storage needs, butAzure NetApp Files (A)provides better performance and is specifically optimized for AVS.

For anAFF MetroCluster IPconfiguration, the customer should useFabricPool mirrorto tier cold data to the public cloud. FabricPool is a feature of ONTAP that allows automatic tiering of cold or inactive data from high-performance AFF (All-Flash FAS) systems to a lower-cost cloud-based object storage. It is designed to extend the capacity of on-premises systems by tiering cold data to cloud storage, reducing the need for additional local storage.

Other options likeBlueXP copy and sync (B)andBlueXP replication (C)are related to data replication and migration, not specifically tiering of inactive data.SyncMirror (D)is a high-availability feature used for synchronous replication, not for cloud tiering.

For a one-time, non-NetApp file migration toAmazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP, especially with millions of files,XCPis the most suitable tool. XCP (NetApp's eXtensible Copy Program) is optimized for high-performance file migrations and can handle large-scale migrations efficiently. Additionally, it provides file analytics, which can help the company gain better insights into the data being migrated.

BlueXP copy & sync (A)andBlueXP replication (B)are not designed for large-scale one-time migrations like XCP, andBlueXP volume caching (D)is not relevant for migrations or analytics.

To update or rotate security keys for one of their acquisition units inNetApp BlueXP observability, the customer should use theSecurityAdmin tool. This tool is designed to manage security-related configurations, including key updates and rotations, ensuring secure management of encryption keys and certificates.

User Management (B)handles user roles and access,Cloud Central (C)is for general cloud services management, and theWorkload Security menu (D)focuses on security monitoring and enforcement rather than key management.

Cross-zone replication (A)deals with replication within the same region across availability zones.SnapMirror (B)andSyncMirror (C)are ONTAP-specific replication technologies but are not directly applicable to Azure NetApp Files in this scenario.
